We are not looking for résumés. We are looking for people who can think clearly, teach well, and help students rise — from strong foundations to extraordinary outcomes.
At CFAL, teaching is the central act. Not marketing. Not franchising. Not scaling to 5,000 students in a stadium. Teaching.
We have 320 families. 40 students per class. Every student knows their teacher by name, and every teacher knows theirs. The classroom is small enough for a real conversation — not a performance.
Our faculty don't just cover portions. They build understanding. They design experiments. They create problem sets that make students think, not just compute. They sit with a struggling student after hours — not because it's in their job description, but because they care.
If you are someone who wants to teach at a serious level — where your subject knowledge matters, where your teaching quality is noticed, and where the institution is built around academic depth rather than commercial breadth — then CFAL may be the place you've been looking for.
Our ValuesStudents at the core. Every decision — from class size to curriculum design to hiring — begins with one question: is this good for the student? Not for the brand. Not for scale. For the student sitting in front of you.
Teach for knowledge, not for portions. We don't measure success by how fast the syllabus was completed. We measure it by how deeply a student understood what was taught. A teacher who spends two extra classes on a concept because the students need it is doing their job right — not falling behind.
Love, kindness, respect, and equality. A child who feels safe will learn. A child who feels judged will shut down. Our classrooms are built on mutual respect — between teacher and student, between student and student. This is non-negotiable.
Standards of performance. Kindness and rigour are not opposites. We hold students to high standards because we believe they can meet them. And we hold ourselves to the same standards — in preparation, in teaching, in honesty.
"We looked at what the best learning programmes in the world actually do and asked: why should children in Mangaluru have access to anything less?"
Our faculty include teachers who spent decades at research institutions — IISc, TIFR, IIT — training PhD students and publishing papers. After retirement, they chose to teach PU students at CFAL. Not because they had to. Because they found it fulfilling. They say teaching a 16-year-old to think from first principles is as intellectually rewarding as guiding a doctoral candidate — and sometimes more so, because you're shaping the mind at the moment it's most open.
We also have young faculty who left corporate careers or research positions to come and teach — because they wanted their work to matter at a human level, not just at a publication level.
This is the staff room you'd be joining. People who've seen the best of academia and chose this. Not because CFAL is a stepping stone — because CFAL is where they want to be.
"I taught PhD students for 30 years. When I retired, I thought I was done with teaching. Then I came to CFAL and taught a classroom of 16-year-olds. I realised I wasn't done at all — I was just getting started on the work that matters most."
"At my previous institution, I taught 400 students in a lecture hall. Here I teach 40. I know every student's name, their strengths, their struggles. For the first time in my career, I feel like I'm actually teaching — not just performing."
"When I wrote to CFAL asking if I could come and teach, all they asked me was: can you solve Pathfinder problems? Can you solve Olympiad problems? And can you teach them? That was it. They didn't ask my degree. They didn't ask how many years of teaching experience I had. They didn't ask which institution I came from. They asked if I could do the work — and then they let me prove it."
Can you explain your subject with clarity and depth — not just repeat a textbook?
Can you take a complex idea and make it simple without making it simplistic?
Do you still find your subject beautiful — not just useful for an exam?
Can you hold a room of 40 students and make every one of them think?
Can you make a student love a subject they thought they hated?
Do you care about getting it right — not just getting through the portion?
A young teacher with unusual ability. A mid-career faculty member with strong teaching depth. A retired teacher who still loves the subject and can truly teach. All are welcome. What matters is simple: can you think clearly, teach well, and help students rise?
At CFAL, you will not be a content delivery machine. You will be a teacher — in the fullest sense of the word.
Small classrooms, real conversations. With 40 students per class, you know every student. You see who's struggling. You see who's bored because they're ahead. You can adjust in real time — not just deliver a pre-recorded lecture to 400 faces on a screen.
Nuffield-style labs. Science at CFAL is not reduced to memorisation. We are building a lab culture where students discover principles through observation, investigation, and disciplined reasoning — the UK Nuffield methodology. If you love experiments, you'll love our labs.
Berkeley Math Circles. Mathematics is taught as puzzles, not formulas. The same approach used at UC Berkeley. If you believe math should be beautiful before it's useful, this is your classroom.
Olympiad training. CFAL has produced an IMO Honourable Mention, an IOAA Silver Medal, INMO qualifiers, and RMO selections every year for 15 years. If you want to work with students who go beyond the syllabus — far beyond — this is where it happens.
Foundation to JEE Advanced. Our Foundation programme starts in Grade 7. Our JEE Advanced programme produced AIR 273 in 2024. You can teach across the full spectrum — from a child just beginning to love science, to a student aiming for IIT Bombay. Few institutions offer that range.
Colleagues who think like you. You won't be the only person who cares about depth. The faculty at CFAL value clarity, rigour, and intellectual honesty. Conversations in the staff room are about problems and pedagogy, not just portion completion.
Full academic freedom. We have a clear institutional philosophy — Nuffield labs, Math Circles, Olympiad pathways. But within that philosophy, you teach your way. Choose your method. Choose your book. Design your problem sets. Structure your classes the way you believe works best. We don't hand you a script. We hand you a classroom and trust you to teach. The only thing we ask is that your students are progressing — that they are on the path of excellence. How you get them there is your decision. The best ideas at CFAL have always come from teachers who tried something different.
We are always interested in meeting exceptional teachers. If you don't see a position that matches your subject but you believe you belong here, write to us anyway.
Teach Chemistry with clarity, rigour, and depth. From Foundation students beginning to love the subject, to JEE Advanced and Chemistry Olympiad aspirants. Contribute to Nuffield-style lab learning and the Life Sciences pathway we are building.
This role is for someone who does not want to merely complete portions, but wants to help build a real culture of Chemistry — from school students beginning to love the subject, to advanced learners aiming high.
Teach Physics from first principles — not from a formula sheet. Strong in Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Optics. Comfortable with both JEE-level problem solving and Nuffield-style experimental physics. Can teach across Foundation (Grade 7+) to JEE Advanced.
Teach Mathematics as a way of thinking, not a collection of formulas. Strong in Calculus, Algebra, and problem-solving. Comfortable leading Berkeley-style Math Circles for younger students and Olympiad-level training for advanced ones. CFAL produces 1 in 10 INMO qualifiers in Karnataka — you'll work with the best young mathematical minds in the region.
Teach Biology with the depth it deserves — not as a memorisation subject but as a living science. Strong in Human Physiology, Genetics, and Ecology. Comfortable with lab-based teaching and field-based learning. CFAL's Life Sciences pathway is being built — you could help shape it from the ground up.
If you are an exceptional teacher in any subject — English, Computer Science, Social Science, or something we haven't thought of yet — and you believe you belong in a serious academic environment, write to us. We are always interested in meeting people who can think clearly and teach well.
Write to Us →Teach concept-driven classes for JEE, NEET, and advanced school students — in classrooms of 40, where you know every student's name.
Design lesson plans, problem sets, assessments, and review material that challenge students to think — not just pattern-match from a question bank.
Track student progress and support academic improvement — not through mass testing, but through genuine mentorship.
Contribute to Olympiad training and enrichment programmes where your subject allows it. CFAL's Olympiad students have represented India internationally — you'll work with that level of talent.
Support the development of lab culture, scientific reasoning, and the four academic pathways CFAL is building at the Foundation level.
Help build a classroom and institutional culture of curiosity, discipline, and excellence. This is not a franchise. This is an institution being built — and you'll be part of building it.
Among the best compensation for teaching faculty in Mangaluru. We pay well — because we hire well.
Choose your method, your book, your approach. We trust our teachers.
Food provided daily on campus.
Cell phone reimbursement + Provident Fund for all permanent faculty.
On compensation: CFAL offers among the best faculty compensation in Mangaluru. We believe that if you want serious teachers, you pay them seriously. Compensation is discussed individually and reflects your subject expertise, teaching ability, and the depth you bring — not a fixed pay scale. If you're good, we want to make it easy for you to say yes.
But honestly — the biggest benefit isn't on this list. It's the students. When you teach 40 students who are genuinely engaged, in a classroom where questions are encouraged and mistakes are treated as learning — that's the benefit no salary can replace. And it's the reason our faculty from IISc, TIFR, and IIT chose to stay.
The application process is simple. We care about your thinking, not your paperwork.
